Western Style Riding has become increasingly popular in Australia. A style of riding that promotes calm horses “out on the trail”.

A Western Trained Horse is a pleasure to ride with calm steady gaits and a responsive attitude to negotiating obstacles.

In the Heart of Central Australia – Alice Springs – we have a dedicated mob of Western Enthusiasts who promote this kind of competition and social activities with our horses.

Central Australian Western Riders became an official incorporated Club on the 7th May 1998.
Originally starting with half a dozen or so riders, the club has gone from strength to strength over the years with over 40 members in 2007.

The vision of the Club has always been to promote Western Style Riding and horse activities in the Alice Springs.

CAWRI at Blatherskite ParkOur club has a diverse range of horses and ponies actively competing in this style of riding. Our competitors range from under 5 to over 50 and all equestrian enthusiasts are Welcome!

The majority of our events and social gatherings are held at the picturesque Blatherskite Park, Len Kittle Drive, just South of Alice Springs.

We run shows throughout the year, promote training activities such as clinics and general training days.

Rodeo Arena at BlatherskiteWe have Western Style Events in the Alice Springs Show (run every year) and the Alice Springs Masters Games (run every two years)

2008 is a Masters Games Year!

Meetings are held the first Sunday of the month, 3pm, at the Western Shed, Blatherskite Park.
